I've been based at Hythe on the community team since 2003 having previously covered the areas of Fawley, Calshot and Blackfield before moving to Dibden & Netley View. I also cover the role of Acting Sergeant in the absence of Sergeant Jones. I am always interested in the views and problems of the community and act on any issues raised or information given be it obstruction of pavements to anti social behaviour and acts of crime. I am PCSO 14390 Daniel Carlin, and I am currently the PCSO covering the Netley View and Dibden Purlieu areas. this is a position I have held for the last 6 months. I joined Hampshire Constabulary in february 2009, and spent the first 2 years of my service as part of the SNT team in Leigh Park. Dibden Purlieu is a small village situated between the New Forest and Hythe. The name Purlieu is a Norman-French word meaning "the outskirts of a forest" and Dibden is an Anglo-Saxon word for valley. Dibden Purlieu had a population of approximately 4000 in 2009 but this is continually growing to cope with the expanding community. It is a sought after area which is used by many to work the main town of Southampton whilst being on the edge of the New Forest. Living in the Neighbourhood Dibden Purlieu, in the latest index of multiple deprivation (IMD), was ranked in England 29478 out of 32,482, where 1 was the most deprived and 32,482 the least. This is broken down further by income employment education, skills health barriers to housing and services the living environment and crime (England).
