£25,000 for a spot of fishing

A SLICE of a famous fishery could be yours for a cool £25,000.

A shareholder in the Timsbury Fishery along the River Test will enjoy the right to fish with one rod once a fortnight throughout the season.

There is only one share left up for grabs with 16 having already been sold this year.

Only shareholders - who are members of the fishery syndicate - and their guests are allowed to fish this exclusive stretch of water, which is shown above.

A stake worth almost one per cent of the fishery will cost between £20,000 and £25,000.

According to the brochure the Test Valley is: "One of the best-kept secrets in Hampshire, nestled between Winchester, Salisbury and the New Forest.

"The area is characterised by its wonderful countryside, attractive villages, the famous River Test and bustling market towns of Andover, Stockbridge and Romsey.

"The river is said to be the home of modern fly-fishing and it is high-quality game fisheries that have made the River Test justifiably famous."

There is around 1.5 miles of prime fishing water on the River Test and carrier streams for members to fish.

This area is split into four beats. There are only two rods to a beat at any one time and the area each member can fish rotates every fortnight.

Members can also use the fishing lodge and surrounding huts.

Having paid £25,000 a shareholder will also have pay an annual £755 management fee.

Anglers throwing a line into the chalk stream fishery can expect to hook many a hefty brown trout throughout the season that runs for 24 weeks from April to October.

Outside the season members can fish for grayling and coarse fish. The sale is being dealt with by estates and farm agency Strutt and Parker.

Personaly, I would get more pleasure and fun out of Mackeral bashing off the nearest beach or Haslar Wall and that costs me nothing!
Must be wonderful to have enough money to spend this amount on a hobby!
