THERE are long tailbacks along a busy Southampton road after emergency services attended to a man who collapsed at the wheel of his car.

Police and ambulance were on the scene on West Quay Road, near the Grand Harbour Hotel at 10.10am today.

The man, thought to be in his 50s, was taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Err - driving his car down a road!? Is that not appropriate behaviour these days!?

Hope the man is OK!

Driving.

The Ikea pun was a bit lame, I'm sorry to say.

Yes, driving. But usually there is generally reason for driving. Unless you like burning expensive fuel for no reason and enjoy sitting in traffic for no reason.

Your response is as lame as the Ikea joke.

Shut up - you're blatantly not a copper - and if you are, you're wasting Tax Payers money by putting stupid comments on here!! Pay some respect. Hope the man in the incident is ok, and that we will make a full recovery!
And what if he was a copper and this is his day off?

I think your comment is blatantly stupid and not well thought out.

And pay some respect? To a total stranger who you do not even know? Respect is earnt and not given out freely.

OK, how is a police man putting a comment on a website wasting taxpayers money?

Police officers work shifts. He/she may well be at home or even have a day off!

ok, sympathy for the guy who collapsed at his wheel, but couldnt the car be simply moved off the road and allow the flow of traffic to continue? My morning sandwich delivery was severely delayed as a result of this....

I have just read some of the comments that have been posted on here and I cannot believe some people. There was only a few of us that stopped today, myself being one of those and a few passers by. There were cars still driving by beeping and moaning even though they could see we were performing emergency CPR in the middle of the road to keep him alive. Yes it might have been in the middle of West Quay Road and yes your day to day lifes might have been held up as you were stuck in traffic but how would you feel if it was you. Wouldn't you like people to stop and help you? Would you be glad that somebody actually took the time of day and stop to maybe, just maybe help you to live?
