THE fire service has condemned a fire bug who kept a crew from a Southampton busy during the middle of the night.

The arsonist struck in Lowford, near Bursledon, where he started half a dozen fires that destroyed a moped and damaged a van as well as bins.

The first incident happened at about 2am and the last was at about 4am. No one was injured in the incidents, which were reported by local residents and tackled by the Hightown station.

A fire spokesman: "They kept us tied for two hours and we were going from one fire to another."

Denzil and Wewullywinky, have you ever tried to become a firefighter and been rejected?

Or does the thought of all those big strong firefighters turn you on too much to apply?

I have no interest in being a firefighter.

The idea of sitting on my arse for most of the day/night and being regimented is not for me.

Besides most of the firefighters i've seen at training school in Eastleigh have no muscles and are spotty twerps.

Would you all be calling them lazy if your house caught fire? These guys do a job which threatens their lives regularly. So what if they get a lot of time off? At least when they work, they make a difference to society. Unlike a few around here..

If they were that lazy and weedy they wouldn't be able to use the equipment. Is nobody safe from you turds wrath, what do you lot do that's so great for society?
The main point is, imagine if there had been a life lost elsewhere because they were attending a fire started by some mindless moron.
Let's hope you don't need them one day aye.

Yet you think it's right for them to get more pay then a paramedic or PC even though they may only get two calls a day if lucky.

Yet the other two are out all day attending more 999 calls. Then they complain to the unions when they get less than 6 hours sleep on a night shift.

Where does it say that anyone thinks its right they get paid more than paramedics? Stop inventing points to refute, it's a schoolboy trick. Although, if you consider how life-threatening a paramedics job is compared to that of a firefighter, maybe it's true, and they should be paid more

There are certain parts of the workforce that are paid for their effort - production workers for example - and others that are paid for their expertise - doctors, for example. Other people, we pay them to take risks we don't want to take ourselves. Simple as that. You can't judge each sector by the standards applied to another.

Why can't I judge each sector by the standards applied. My taxes increase each year to pay for these people to spend most of the time on their backsides. Yet the other two emergency service get minimal in the way of pay increases and do more for SOCIETY.

wewullywinky, the fire service may not be as busy as the police or ambulance service but they still have to be on duty, at work so to speak, who knows when there may be a fire, a car crash, a flood whatever , like what was said earlier would you call them if you had a fire or would you rather it burnt to the ground, i think you would be on the phone so don't knock them, all the emergency services do a pretty good job.

Sorry, willy, but being a taxpayer does not bestow you with any magical reasoning powers. Did you not read my post? How often does your average paramedic willingly risk their life? What is your oh-so-brilliant alternative to having a fire service, then? Come on genius, show us The One True Way!

This "I'm a taxpayer, ergo I know exactly how to run all public services far better than anyone else does" attitude is beyond lame, by the way.

I think all you lot critising the fire service should volunteer with them for the day, and see what exactly they have to do and put up with, like attending a fire and having yobs hurl objects at you while you are trying to do your job. I personally admire the fire service for what they do, cos i certainly do not have the courage to go into a burning building (no matter how protected i am) without a thought for my own safety to save others. Give the guys a break. And its not just the emergancy services who get money from taxes but most of it goes to the governmant (local or otherwise) if yoiu have a bone of contantion with someone about your taxes take it up with the greedy desk pushers located at the civic centre and ask them what they are doing with your money, cos it certainly not on making our city a nicer place or fixing roads. Let's hope you don't have a fire where you live and have to rely on the fire fighters to save your butt.

Denzil and WeeWilly are now getting a bit confused - last poster used the words 'bone' and 'butt'. I think they are off having a cold shower before reading the 'Trolls book of abuse' before posting again.

Anyway - I believe the firefighters do a fantastic job (I'm not related, affiliated or in love / fancy any of them) and deserve their money - possibly more.

I think that we should have scheme where the Denzils and WeePeckers of the county should be able to pay (as if) a reduced council tax - but be refused any assistance from the firefighters should the need arise.

What do you two faggots say?
