Henry Castle faces a stiff test on his road towards a British title shot after being handed a fight against Graham Earl in October.
The Winchester boxer will take on his experienced opponent at York Hall, Bethnal Green, on October 17.
That means he has around nine weeks to prepare for the fight against Earl who has held the British and WBU lightweight titles during his career.
Earl's last fight was a high profile encounter against Amir Khan but he was blown away by the Bolton man in just 72 seconds.
Castle is taking on all comers to try and prove he deserves a British title shot, something which if he had been more fortunate he might well have had already.
The 29-year-old has steadily built up in defeating his last four opponents with wins against Kevin O'Hara, Frederic Gosset, Ryan Barrett and Lee Cook putting some decent names on his record.
Fighting Earl will be a step up again and it would seem that a win will leave Castle with little else left to beat before a title shot.
