Saints asked to play like Arsenal

JAN Poortvliet is using Arsenal as a template for his young side.

The Saints head coach has seen his team play some incredible football very much in the mould of the Gunners over the last two games and is hoping for more of the same when they host Blackpool in a lunchtime kick-off tomorrow.

Poortvliet's biggest concern is that when his side comes up against more physical teams, possibly like Blackpool, they continue to pass the ball and play the game they want to play it - in the same way as Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side always do.

He said: "I think Arsenal are a template because you always have to look at the way you want to do things."

One problem is that they are not off to the best of starts and Gallas is a rubbish Captain.

the passing is alot like Arsenal though which is good to see.

Birmingham had no answer to our passing game on Tuesday night. Hopefully a trident-pronged attack of Lallana, Holmes and McGoldrick will tear Blackpool apart tomorrow.

Get behind Jan's Juniors. They are a great young team. The stay away fans are the losers. Those of us who go to St Mary's are enjoying some great football.

Lets hope Saints get the goals coz thats Arsenal's downfall, they do all the good work then try and pass it into the net. McGoldrick and Lallana need 25 -30 goals between them to turn us into top 3 material. Its great watching fantastic football and hopefully we will reach the promised land in style, COYR

the only problem is with the passing game in the cccc is that team will sooner then most people think, find away around the slick passing. im all for it, and tbh some great football is being played, i no the gunners do the same the " passing game" and teams in the prem are finding ways around it, look at west brom, stopped them passing and in the end they had to go to hoofing the ball up to the big men, we just dont have strong enough players, ster john and dave mcgoldrick maybe

COYR three points tomoz

it aint a negative comment!!!!
