A crash has caused delays on one of Hampshire's busiest roads this morning – for the seventh time in a week.

Tailbacks built up on the A31 across the New Forest after a car left the eastbound carriageway.

The accident at about 6.15am happened between Stoney Cross and the Castle Malwood turn off.

The road has been plagued by accidents and hold ups over the past week.

Last night a car fire shut the westbound carriageway and caused four mile tailbacks before Picket Post.

Traffic was at a standstill on the approach to Poulner Hill while the fire services attended the scene.

The car was destroyed by the blaze.
