A HAMPSHIRE leisure destination is set to get two new restaurants.

Port Solent marina sees thousands of people from across southern Hampshire come every week to indulge in cuisines from all over the world while soaking up views across the water.

The new eateries are Flaming Rooster, a Portuguese style piri-piri venue, and Richoux, a well-known London patisserie café.

The establishments will add to the dining experiences available ranging from Tex-Mex, fresh seafood and Italian to quintessential English tea rooms, among others.

At Flaming Rooster - as the name suggests - chicken is the main dish and you may choose from wing, leg or breast or a whole chicken that has been immersed in their secret piri-piri sauce for 24 hours.

Customers can choose one of the six sauces from garlic butter to the very spicy rooster flaming hot sauce.

The ovens are made out of glass so from your seat you can watch the turning of the whole chickens.

Flaming Rooster, serving flame-grilled dishes, will be the latest to join Port Solent with its opening on Friday, while prestigious London eatery Richoux will start trading early next month.

Richoux, which is famous in the capital for its patisseries, offers all-day breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. It will be the first time the iconic brand that has outlets in prestigious areas such as Knightsbridge and Mayfair, will open its doors outside of London since it was founded in 1909.

Lisa Fowler, event co-ordinator and centre administrator at Port Solent, said: “We are excited about the additions of Flaming Rooster and Richoux because they will add to the incredible experience already available and enhance our excellent range of food choice.

“To have these businesses come to Port Solent is a great compliment and shows what a popular destination it is for visitors and locals with its vibrant atmosphere, variety of shops, bars and restaurants. All this against a stunning marina backdrop and free parking.

“After a successful 2016 we are pleased to start the New Year with this exciting news, which shows that Port Solent continues to grow in strength and emphasises what a great asset to the people of Portsmouth and Hampshire it is.”
