Shaftesbury Barnet's injuries caught up with them again in the Gold Cup final at Bedford on Saturday, when they finished sixth.
Birchfield came first with 123 points, Belgrave were second on 113 and Sale Harriers Manchester finished with 104 points. Shaftesbury Barnet achieved 82.5 points.
The star on the track for SBH was Emil De Jonge, who beat a classy field in the 5,000m with 14min 15.71sec.
Also performing well were Richard McDonald with a fine second place in the 400m hurdles (52.98sec) and Charlie Low, third in the 3,000m steeplechase (9min 07.01sec).
Juniors Nick Smith (100m and 200m) and Alan Scott (110m hurdles) ran well and look real prospects for the future.
In the field events, David Parker repeated his successes of earlier years, winning the javelin with a throw of 74.56m.
The other top-notch performance came from Robert Mitchell, who came second in the high jump (2.20m), pipped by the British No1, Ben Challenger.
The pole vault saw Christian Linskey clear 4.80m again for third place.
Shaftesbury face their most important match of the year, the final round of the British League Division One in Jarrow on Saturday, August 18, when they must beat Sale Harriers and Border AC to preserve their Division One status.
Shaftesbury's 'B' team produced their best performance of the season on Saturday.
They finished second in the fifth round of the Southern League Division One at Eltham in Surrey.
They move into the top half of the table with one match to go.
Returning after injury, Jason Moseley did well when second in the long jump with 6.25m and third in the 100m in a season's best of 11.6sec.
Cambridge won with 124 points, Shaftesbury Barnet finished second on 111.5 and Southend AC were third on 109. Belgrave were fourth on 91.5 points, with Bournemouth AC fifth on 81.5.
The final round will take place at Tooting Bec on August 4.
