When I moved here in 1969 the annual Finchley Carnival procession was a joy to behold and residents rushed from their homes to watch it go by and throw coins into the charity buckets.
Over the years businesses have moved away and the number of floats has diminished but still we stood at the kerbside with our kiddies to do our bit for the borough.
However, this year we were on the wrong side of Ballards Lane and the traffic was still running to Finchley Central while floats were going past on the other side.
Sweets were being thrown to children and this meant they were dashing in and out of the traffic to get them.
Surely the traffic could have been diverted as usual or even held up while the procession made the short journey to Tally Ho?
Hopefully someone will read this and do something about it so that sanity can rule next year.
