A BUS driver managed to avoid a crash after after people in a passing car threw curry over her through the window.

A number two Southern Vectis bus was travelling along Great Preston Road in Ryde on the Isle of Wight shortly midday on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.

It’s reported someone travelling in the passing car threw a plastic container containing curry through the bus driver’s window covering her and the moving vehicle’s controls in sauce.

The bus driver, a 50-year-old woman from the island, was not injured.

Investigating officer PC Al Spence said: “There were around 30 people on the bus at the time so some of them may have seen what happened. The passing vehicle was described as a red car. The actions of someone in this vehicle were reckless and could have led to a road traffic collision because of the shock and distraction it caused to the bus driver.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about the identity of the people travelling in the car are asked to contact PC Al Spence at Newport Police Station by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 01962 875000. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
