How many more big corporations are the Government going to have to bail out..?

The executives have been trying to close the UK Ford operations since the 1980s so they can go the asia.

- very strongly for Labour's anti-terrorism laws
- strongly against an investigation into the Iraq war
- moderately for a transparent Parliament (yeah, not like any of the plebs should know how parliament works)
- very strongly for introducing ID cards
- strongly for a stricter asylum system

Many of these were once the proposals of the Thatcher era and before.

Nonsense. The unions in France and Germany are far more powerful than they have ever been in the UK. The difference is that the French and Germans have never been sold the Thatcherite lie that it is a good idea to abandon all industry except finance. By your reasoning I assume you are also opposed to the bank bailouts?

It started with Major's overhaul. He was actually the first PM to begin to drag us out of the 90s recession but he didnt really beleive in industry either...

..this has lead to a political culture (all parties) where we've become a nation of a few money men, service industries (how many more coffee shops can we squeeze in places) and shops.

It is also partly why when industry jobs are needed here we dont always have the people to fill the position. UK workers dont see themselves as appropriate for the job, they've been told we're all "middle class" - so those jobs end up with an influx of foreign workers because those are the only people really going for the job..

..well until this year when many a hand was forced.
