War medals stolen
War medals handed down through a family have been stolen in Gosport.
The theft happened after a man called at a home in The Crossways wanting to buy old gold and silver.
The man, described as in his late 40s, overweight and with dark blond receding hair, is believed to have stolen the two medals, which were both inscribed with the words “F.W. Collins”.
Investigating Officer PC Sharon Palmer said: “This has clearly caused distress to the victim as the medals have been handed to him by his father.
“I would appeal to anyone who has had a man matching this description attend their address requesting if they would like to sell gold or silver.
“Or if anyone has had a leaflet left by this man in the same area that can identify him and to be aware of anyone trying to buy such items from them.”
The theft happened at around 2pm on Monday, October 8.
Anyone with information should contact Fareham Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
