AN innovative scheme to allow students to collaborate on work, gain access to resources and submit assignments online has earned a Southampton college a nomination for a national award.

City College Southampton has been shortlisted in the outstanding eLearning team category for the Times Education Supplement (TES) Further Education Awards, for its Citybit project to make life easier for staff and students.

The college’s head of learning technologies, John Savage, said: “We put a great deal of work into using the latest technologies to help students and staff, so to be recognised for that is fantastic.

“The standard of entries for these national awards are always high so it is a huge accolade for the college to be deemed among the best of our peers across the country.”

City College has already won three accolades for its eLearning earlier this year, and will discover if it has won the latest award at a ceremony in Birmingham next month.
