POLICE are hunting two women after groceries worth £350 were stolen from a Hampshire supermarket.

Officers have released CCTV images of the women police want to track down.

A woman distracted a security guard at the Tesco store in Sizer Way, Dibden, while her accomplice left the building with a trolley full of goods that had had not been paid for.

The women with the trolley was white, about 5ft, aged between 40 and 65 years, plump, with long dark hair pulled back into a pony tail.

Her accomplice was in her teens or early twenties, slim, with long black hair. She was wearing black leggings, a white T-shirt and a silver-coloured cardigan.

Ring PC Heather Barrow at Hythe police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

To avoid paying for it, maybe? Seriously, why do you even need to ask? It's not like there's some ceiling on how much it's "ok" to steal from Tesco, is there?

How do they know it's £350 worth of goods if it didn't go through the till? I guess Tesco did a full stock-take following the theft.

No but i can't see 2 people eating that much in a hurry, maybe they were having a party, who knows but seriously, they must be pretty gutsy to steal from tesco and so poor after buying their designer clothes and stuff.

Maybe there was alcohol in the trolly.
.
Or 350 Arctic rolls ......... who knows .. who cares.
.
Perhaps it was £50 and Tesco say its £350

Tescos need to update their security camera system. If their stock is that valueable then an upgrade would soon pay for itself.

The two women were white, but what accent did the one use to distract the security guard

To be honest, looking at the provided pictures, it wouldn't surprise me if the trolly was full of alcohol.

Probably scanned through a self-service checkout - it can take a while for staff to react and realise that such a checkout is not working because it has a large unpaid bill left on it. Ultimately, of course, everyone who shops at Tesco picks up the bill.

Try Netley view or home farm Marchwood. They must be poor to nick from Tesco should have gone to Waitrose for a better selection and more edible.

Considering the poor quality of the pics on this article, and also the one of the man who stole £6 from a teenager at a station, what's the point of allowing CCTV?

1st, the trolleys at Tesco, Dibden, do not need £1, 2nd, I've lived on Netley View for 10 years and have never had any problem, in fact they are probably the nicest people you could meet, 3rd the trolleys can not go beyond certain points in the car park so why did security not stop them? They must have had a car and by the looks of the trolley it would have taken a fair amount of time to fill their car boot!,,,

Just because Netleyview is a council estate it does not mean we are all thieves. It is more likely to be someone who does not live in the immediate surrounding areas as they are less likely to be recognised!!

Yeah because JJB Sports' clientele aren't 90% tracksuit clad chavs, instead of super slim exercise nuts, right?

Agreed Snob07, I lived in the waterside are, specifically Netley View, for 20 years, before joining the army. It was never any better or worse than any other area around Southampton. Instead of taking the p1ss, maybe we should be trying to help catch them. As someone else said, we all end up paying for thieving.

Apparently the trolley never left Tesco as the woman was stopped by the security guard, manager and under manager it was only the woman who managed to wriggle out of the security guards grasp and run away. So that's how they know how much shopping was in the trolley.Once again the Echo's report is misleading.

Has it not occurred to anybody that the quality of the original video could be a lot better than that produced by the Echo, if they want to catch the two women they should offer a relatively small reward i am sure somebody out there would be quite happy to spill the BEANS for a £100.

Why Kaneshill out of interest? It's a school not an area. And if you are inferring that people who live on council estates are all criminals then you are very very wrong. Just because there is a few bad apples in the barrel, doesn't mean the whole bunch are! Some of us are hard working and honest!

Why can't Tesco just let it go? I'm sure they will manage just fine.. they have contributed towards a society where the low paid have to resort to crime to get by.. they will spend more than £350 to catch these 2 and its us the taxpayer who ultimately pays for court cases, prison sentences and its the lawyers who ultimately just get richer and richer..

Nobody HAS to resort to crime to get by.

Sack the security guard then, it's his fault. Take it from his wages.
