Residents are being urged to report any suspicious calls asking them to buy advertising space from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. A business on Hayling Island reported a man with a Liverpudlian accent trying to sell them an advert in a supposed drink-drive booklet. The caller, who said he was from "Hampshire Fire and Safety", called himself Mr Jones and said the booklet was being produced in conjunction with police. When questioned as to his real identity, the crank caller got angry and hung up. Hampshire Police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue are urging people to ignore any such calls and report them to police. Residents should call 101 to report any suspicious sales calls.
