Charities to benefit from Southampton Airport cash
12:30pm Wednesday 31st October 2012 in News
A total of £80,000 will be handed out to good causes from a charity pot at Southampton Airport.
Around £30,000 will be split between smaller local projects while the rest will go towards one larger scheme dubbed the “Big Idea”.
Charities are now being urged to attend a public meeting to find out how they can apply for the cash, which comes from the Southampton Airport Community Fund.
Projects benefiting from funding in 2012 included the Hampshire Somali Community employment and skills workshops, Star4Locals gardening support and SAFE Partnership SAFE Date workshops for young people in Eastleigh schools. Past Big Idea projects include the Bitterne Park School ‘Destinations Lounge’ – a learning resource centre for students and the community – due to open next month.
The open meeting takes place on November 27 at 4pm at Southampton Airport.
