The 24-year-old victim, who was stabbed in the back during a disturbance near the Itchen Bridge in Woolston yesterday morning, was last night released from Southampton General Hospital after receiving treatment for his injuries.
Police today revealed he has also been arrested on suspicion of affray, but has been released on bail until January 9.
Detectives detained three people yesterday morning, after being called to Wharf Road by residents concerned about a loud fight going on.

They have now been bailed, pending further enquiries, until January 9.
Another 17-year-old youth who was arrested on suspicion of resisting police and wounding with intent has now been released on bail until December 6.
Detectives from Bitterne CID have again appealed for information from anyone who saw the incident, which started in Wharf Road between 7am and 8am yesterday, and ended in nearby Defender Road, which is the other side of Itchen Bridge.

For a long time now trouble seems to have centered around Wharf Road, The Cliff, Defender Road, and Condor Close.
Despite the new Crest Nicholson
development it's a shame there are still areas in Woolston you want to avoid.
