THE 1908 FA Charity Shield medal won by Southampton-born goalkeeper Harry Moger sold for £13,000 at auction.
The 15-carat gold medal was presented to Mr Moger after he helped Manchester United win the very first FA Charity Shield, against Queen’s Park Rangers, on August 29, 1908.
Mr Moger briefly played for Saints before joining Manchester United.
Before the sale at Graham Budd Auctions at Sotheby’s in London, the medal had been expected to sell for between £8,000 and £12,000.
