A SERIES of new signs have gone up naming a cycle route after one of Hampshire’s Olympic heroes.

Fifteen metal signs have been installed in Hamble-le- Rice to mark the achievements of Dani King, who won gold in the women’s team pursuit at London 2012.

Cyclists can nowfollowthe Dani King Cycleway from near the junction with Portsmouth Road in Bursledon to its junction with Copse Lane, Hamble-le- Rice passing the 21-yearold’s former primary school.

Dani said: “It is an honour to have a cycle path named after me. When people ride along it I hope it will remind them of the legacy of the Olympics and inspire them to keep fit and enjoy sport.”

The council recently announced its plan to award Freedom of the Borough to Dani and to Paralympic star David Smith.

The route has been there for 4 or more years. All they've done is add a few signs.
