A ROAD in to Southampton has been closed off this evening after a teenage pedestrian was hospitalised in a collision with a car.

The 13-year-old girl was initially thought to have sustained life threatening injuries after colliding with a Chrysler Cruiser PT at around 5pm.

But medics at Southampton General Hospital later found her injuries to be less serious than first thought.

Police have taped off Thornhill Park Road in both ways and say the closure is likely to stay in place into the night while investigations get underway.

Closures were rolled out along the A334 between the A27 Moorhill Road at the Kanes Hill roundabout and Upper Deacon Road.
