TIDWORTH-based Help for Heroes has enjoyed a morale boosting visit from the Prime Minister who gave his backing to a new initiative from the forces charity by praising the work done locally.
The charity was heavily criticised in some quarters earlier this year following a BBC Newsnight investigation into its spending but Mr Cameron called in at two Help for Heroes sites in the town on Friday and declared his support for the cause.
He met veterans at the recovery centre Tedworth House and local volunteers at The Hut – the name given to the offices used by the charity opposite Aspire Defence.
