NON-STOP rain has battered Hampshire today leaving two rivers at risk of flooding.

The Environment Agency has warned that the Lymington River in the New Forest and the River Blackwater at Landford on the border with Wiltshire are a flood risk as rain continues to drench the south.

Nearly one inch (up to 20mm) of water is expected to have fallen by the end of the day.

The deluge has also played havoc with sporting fixtures across the county. Every Wessex League football fixture scheduled to be played in Hampshire today has been postponed because of waterlogged pitches.

And there is no end in sight, with more heavy rain forecast for tomorrow.

The wind will also come into force this evening, with gusts of up to 38mph.

Tomorrow will see these increase even more, reaching speeds of up to 46mph in the morning.
