Fall on Isle of Wight street led to OAP death
A PENSIONER died after he tripped and fell when he was walking in a town centre, an inquest heard.
Christopher Young was paralysed from the waist down after falling on to his back as he climbed a kerb in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
The 68-year-old was taken to Southampton General Hospital but his condition deteriorated and he was also diagnosed with the underlying bone condition diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperotosis.
Mr Young, from Newport, died in hospital on May 8 eight days after the fall.
A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
