The big news is that William probably pays tax on his salary as a search and rescue pilot within the RAF, so it's not as if he is exactly sponging off the State plus I do not suppose that the couple will be claiming child benefit or child tax credit. So altogether I don't think there's much cause for alarm. Mind you, if this is like the other threads, I can't wait for people to call be a thieving weasel shyster benefits fraudster again. You haven't stopped to think that a presidential election every four years would cost just as much as the Monarchy anyway, and our Head of State (Jesus who would you like our armed forces to salute FFS - Bob Geldof? Steve Coogan?) would need somewhere to live, and of course our taxes would pay for his family and his retinue of staff. The point about the monarchist system is that if senior civil servants, military and civilian offices of state are loyal to the crown and not the government you minimise corruption at the top and while you are sneering you should recognise that we have less Government corruption than just about any country in the world. It is better to have Sir Humphreys than Alistair Campbells. It is better to give out knighthoods than brown bags full of money or haven't you figured that out yet? The Royal Family don;t need money - it means nothing to them. That's the point. no. The royal family is a ceremonial relict. As to actual "power" or influence its only theoretical. The moment it would be exercised it would be removed by parliment to protect our so called democracy. So yeh, whats the actual point in admiring someone whose only achievemnt is being born? Besides, the crown, owns everything. Unlike other countries you dont actualy own your land, you hold it from the queen. Britains one of the only countrys that has not adopted the roman law approach to land law.

Is an actual corporation which is its own country within the uk. Look it up. Many conspiracies surrounding this fact. Its quite interesting.

I'm aware of everything you say, and you will find that wherever you live in the world YOU as an individual ultimately don't own you land - the state will take it from you if it wants to - yes even in the USA. Just ask the Native Americans. In the UK you are safe because the Crown is above the Government. And we have Magna Carta - one of the proudest moments in our history - to protect you from the very abuses you list. Yes it is still relevant in common law as you should know. The Royals have a job that none of us would want - Nobody in their right mind would want to be public property constantly ridiculed by inacurate press and media reporting, the butt of stupid jokes from second rate comics and fictitious concepts from republicans....
