A MAN was robbed at gunpoint at a Hampshire train station this morning.

The victim, who had just parked his car outside Brockenhurst Railway Station, was threatened by a man who appeared to be brandishing a handgun at around 6.30am, according to police.

The gunman told the victim to get back in his car and drive him to the HSBC bank in Brockenhurst, where he forced him to withdraw some cash from an ATM. He then made the man drive to a car park on Rhinefield Road and told him to get out of the car. It is believed this was sometime between 7 and 7.15am.

The robber then drove off and later abandoned the car in Sway Road, Brockenhurst, on a track near to the railway bridge.

Officers are now trying to trace anyone who saw any of the incident, which began on the southern side car park at Brockenhurst Station. The car involved is quite distinctive as it is a grey Porsche 911 Carrera.

Police officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened or anyone suspicious in the area around the time of the incident. Detectives are keen to trace any witnesses who may have seen the car or the people involved, in the New Forest.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Operation Limestone team at Lyndhurst CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police are expected to be at the station most of the day investigating the crime and will be speaking to commuters this evening as they return home and will be on hand there tomorrow morning as well to speak to potential witnesses.

Passengers have since spoken of their shock at the crime, whilst staff have said they knew nothing of the incident until the police turned up.
