Burst water main closes road
A BURST water main has closed a major Hampshire road.
The A3057 near Romsey between the M271 and Upton Lane has been closed in both directions while Southern Water attempts to repair the pipe.
It is hoped the road will be fully reopened by the weekend, but that is dependent on the weather.
A Southern Water spokesman said: “We are working as quickly as we can on the repair, however new road surfaces take time to set and this can be lengthened in cold weather.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause, however it is an emergency and the closure is needed in order to protect our crews and motorists.”
