A man had cash taken from him in Southampton during robbery after he was targeted in a shopping centre.

The 50-year-old man was walking near the Sainsbury’s in Bitterne Precinct when he was approached by a man who had demanded cash from a couple just a few moments earlier.

When the victim refused to hand over money, the suspect walked with him along a path to Lloyds Bank.

He then walked to the top of Angel Crescent at its junction with Maybray King Way towards the underpass.

The victim was pushed over and shouted at before the suspect searched his jacket and trousers.

After stealing some cash, he walked back towards the precinct.

He is described as 5ft 9ins, thin and having stubble on his face. He wore a grey and white hooded top and carried a dark rucksack.

Officers want to talk to the couple who were approached by the suspect at 6.40pm on Saturday December 15.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact PC Murden at Bitterne CID on 101.
