Goodwick United FC Young Stars will be playing Goodwick United Older Stars on Boxing Day.
One team will be representative of the club’s under-25s; the other the ‘old ‘uns’.
Most pundits expect the youngsters to prevail; though Goodwick’s first team captain, the indefatigable Wayne O’Sullivan, insists that experience may count for more than youth—well he would wouldn’t he.
This festive match is the players’ chance to say thanks to their hardworking committee and supporters.
The match will be followed by a free buffet and karaoke-disco for all players, friends, families and supporters.
Club chairman, Brian Morris, has promised not to sing Fields of Athanry again; but he will be giving his legendary impression of River-Dance.
So for a good match and a fun festive treat, get down to Phoenix Park on Boxing Day, kick-off is at 2pm.
