Mum assaulted staff at Hightown Primary School in Southampton
9:11am Saturday 22nd December 2012 in News
By Jon Reeve, Education Reporter
Hightown Primary School in Southampton
A MUM has been convicted of assaulting four members of staff in front of children at a Southampton school while under the influence of alcohol.
Kellie James pushed workers at Hightown Primary School as they tried to calm her down when she began aggressively banging on doors and windows.
The 29-year-old knocked one woman to the floor as staff attempted to coax her from the building.
Foul-mouthed Once back outside the school after she had been arrested, James then launched into a foul-mouthed tirade within earshot of youngsters, and racially abused a police officer.
James appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court after admitting four charges of assault by beating and another of using |racially-aggravated threatening words or behaviour.
Police were called to the Tunstall Road school, in Thornhill, at 5.20pm on November 7 following two 999 calls from staff, who said they had been assaulted.
Workers at the school told officers James appeared to have been drinking when she became aggressive, but attempts to placate her failed.
In one classroom she grabbed a woman much smaller than herself and threw her to the ground, before pushing a teacher.
They said staff repeatedly asked her to calm down and tried to lead her back out of the school, but without success. Police arrested James on suspicion of assault, but while they were waiting to take her into custody she was again verbally abusive, including making racially offensive comments to a PC.
James, whose address was given as Old School Close, Holbury, pleaded guilty to assaulting Sandy Ainslie, Sheena Salter, Michael Payne and Natalie Taylor.
Magistrates gave her a 12-month community supervision order. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £60 in victim surcharges.
After the sentencing, a spokesman for Hightown Primary said: “This was a very distressing incident, and one that everyone at the school wants to put behind them.
“Behaviour like this is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated by anyone, especially hard working staff who only want the best for the school and the children. “Thankfully this was a very unusual occurrence.
“As always the safety of staff and pupils at the school is our main concern.”

Every time theres a major recession or a depression in the job market, Then this one of the many problems that go on a major increase, Other things that go on the increase are suicide, Domestic Violence, illness, Homeless, poverity and robberys and murder.
Just to make it clear for nonefinkers just because lets say we have 9 million people unemployed it do not mean that they would all react in the same way, some it will not effect others it will effect as hope fades away and despair sets in.

Why could you not bring yourself to condemn the magistrate who let this lady get away so lightly?

if you have children you should bring them up properly, and teach them manners and right from wrong.

No, of course not.
My father was in prison my mum was on Social bringing up 11 kids.
my mum never drank ( smoked like a trooper) she looked at it if the teachers or police told us off we must be doing wrong.
she would never attack a teacher or police officer so why blame unemployment ( 2.5million) on this woman's actions?
This has nothing to do with this persons financial situation but this womans attitude & respect of other people.
You've over stepped the mark on this YOU are saying if your on the dole you get drunk & violent HOW DARE YOU?
Is there any link between your dad ding birdy and you joining Tories, the party of crooks?
Seriously, I feel sorry for your mum who had to look after 11 kids while on 'Social'. I hope you think of that when your beloved party attacks welfare benefits for vulnerable people and attack single mothers.
O
My father went to prison when I was 11 all the family had been born by then.
My Dad worked in the Merchant Navy & then for Bartholomew's.
He'd lost brother's to TB in the 30's & most working class families had a lot of kids when I was growing up. I know of one family that had 15 kids.
As soon as the youngest was old enough my mum found work at BAT so no we didn't live the life of Riley on the Social.
In all my family not including the eldest who was/is my step brother have any been to prison most own their own home.
I can't go into what my Father did & I don't know how to put it.
I vote Tory after seeing all the hypocritical Socialists out there,
When oH When have Labour ever asked the working class what they want?
Middle class boys & a Corrupt Union Leader who became deputy leader of their party doesn't really make them the party of the people does it?
When did the working man ask for taxes on beer & their wages to rise as much as it did under Labour?
This woman is a disgrace no matter what her circumstances but what do we expect when a mother can break the law & get off Scot free every time?

BUT there is difference between a mother without any money forced into crime to feed her starving kids AND somebody having enough for spending upon Booz and physically assaulting staff in school in front of small children, and even after falling in the hands of cops go on throwing racially motivated abuse and threats.
Since when socialism has started to endorse that kind of very serious criminal behaviour?
As a trade unionist and socialist I am very disappointed in you for miserably failing to express any sympathy with workers, who were the victims in this case, but opting to side with a criminal.
Why could you not bring yourself to condemn the magistrate who let this lady get away so lightly?
Considering I have in the past exposed your Trotskyist comrades recruiting members of National Front into Labour Party, perhaps I should not be shocked with your love for criminals and no consideration for workers, unless they go on strike.
In Calcutta section of criminals tend to worship their goddess 'Kali Mata' (Black Mother) I am starting to wonder if here in Southampton you are trying to become Father Xmas for criminals!
Then also take this into account also, Some people can react voilently when drunk, drink it self will effect people different way.
so come on Paramjit think abit about it all, and yes I know what she done was well out of order and should of been lock up, But I am not the judge over the matter
Why can't these people think before hitting the bottle? If they have mental health problems, while I sympathise with their medical condition or alcohol addiction, I believe they should approach professionals for help. Yes those services are under pressure due to cuts, but then how many of such criminals join likes of you in opposing cuts? Not most of them, I think.
For me life is very simple, those committing crime should be made accountable for their actions. Compassionate liberal minded attitudes in my opinion have contributed to many problems.
Sooner we on the left face facts the better, otherwise we could be unwittingly leaving this field open for right wing hang and shoot brigades who will exploit such examples for beating the hell out of all unemployed and under privileged victims of their own economic and social policies.

Does he/ she agrees with fascists scare mongering of their assumed Britishness in danger?
Is that what he/she or whatever the creature may be went on marching against i.e. Multi cultural tolerant society based on live and let live ideas?
I suppose distorting spells of my name and viewing the type of work I may do for my living is ok for do gooding snobbish scum, who obviously has no brain to understand what evil of racism is all about, and that it is the cancer of all societies.
Because these do gooders patronising people found it easy to divert attention from real problems of British society, which make misery of everybody's life regardless of their race or gender, but they tried to look good by dividing and dominating so called minorities by complaining about what was the label on jam jar, dolls for children or even silliest possible attempts to rename Xmas.
In my opinion such parasites of fight against racism are worse than even fascists.
Hardly surprising first time ever I got physically attacked for defending the right of a West Indian man's right to express his view at an anti racism meeting was by members of Socialist Workers Party, who were apologised for their liberal minded friends.

Absolute and utter rubbish.
Denying black people the vote wasn't "intended to cause harm". It was because the ruling class at the time believed that black people were not intellectually capable of considering such complex and important issues.
I'm sure they'll be very pleased to hear that they weren't being racist.
Denying a black person a job in a firm of middle-class whites because they "won't fit in and wouldn't be happy" isn't "intended to cause harm". So that's not racism either then, according to your definition.
There are a million other examples. I'm sure you can think of your own.
Buck your ideas up lad, you're a disgrace.

Very young children are really susceptible to behaviours of adults and will emulate them.
Certain things are/should be sacred. School is one of them I believe. Simple fact: No child should EVER have been exposed to this behaviour.
The sentencing clearly shows that as a social enviorment we find this behaviour reasonable.
I dont know if its the fact that we cant afford to have more inmates or what, but the recent judgments passed are frankly laughable.
As to the racism debate.... I wont bother. Most people just dont get it.
