Seeing the photo of the Land-Rover 90 at Brockenhurst beg's the question, why don't the County Council do someting sensible, like in the Alpine regions, and install road edge marker poles/posts, with water depth markings as a bonus, so emergency responders and others with 'suitable' vehicles don't run off the road when it's flooded?
As so many houses have been built on known flood plains it would save insurer's, thus customers (i.e. US!) money in the longer term too._
