Gemma Raybould spending Christmas fighting high seas drug war with Royal Navy

Daily Echo: Gemma Raybould Gemma Raybould

ROYAL Navy sailor Gemma Raybould is just one of many armed service personnel who will not be home for Christmas this year.

The 28-year-old from Millbrook, Southampton, pictured, will be spending Christmas with her 259 shipmates on board HMS Edinburgh.

It is the first time that Gemma will not be with fiancé Richie Kitson, 39, and children James, 7, and Casey, 4. Gemma is on a six-month deployment in the South Atlantic on the last of the Royal Navy’s Type 42 destroyers fighting the war on drugs.

The sailors are still determined to enjoy themselves despite being away on Christmas Day, and there will be role reversal as the officers serve Christmas dinner to the crew.

Gemma said: “It will be good fun and as we’re all away from our families we’re in the same boat and we’ll do our best to get some Christmas cheer going.”

Prohibitionists literally don't give a **** about the welfare of individuals. That's you, me, and everyone you care about. They don't care even when their failed policy puts their own families in danger by destroying the economy and bank-rolling criminals and terrorists. The prohibitionist onslaught appears to be simply a war directed at all of us.

People, it is time to wake up! Prohibition is a cultural and economic assault on your money, on your careers, on your ability to put food on the table, have shelter, cloth yourself, and even survive or self-medicate.

During alcohol prohibition, all profits went to enrich criminals and corrupt politicians. Young men died every day on inner-city streets while battling over turf. A fortune was wasted on enforcement that could have gone on education, etc. On top of the budget-busting prosecution and incarceration costs, billions in taxes were lost. Finally, the economy collapsed. Sound familiar?

Malcolm, Britain didnt ban the sale of alcohol but we still suffered economically from 1929,
secondly the end of prohibition in the States ended 1933 the great depression started in 1929 after the wall street crash.
nice try , but no cigar for you !

Good luck to Gemma hope your mission is successful
