Building collapses due to fire Building collapses due to fire

A derelict building collapsed after a blaze in a Hampshire village.

Firefighters were unable to save the timber frame building in Sherfield English, near Romsey, after it caught fire in the early hours of today.

Crews from Romsey, Redbridge, St Mary's and Eastleigh rushed to the scene, on Branches Lane, at around 1am.

The blaze was put out by foam but the building could not be saved.

No one was injured in the incident.

Well with all this hot dry weather we're experiencing at the moment I'm not surprised a derelict wood framed building has caught fire (ready for the site to be redeveloped in the new year!?!). ;-)

Why so many appliances attending? No threat to life and almost in the middle of nowhere..

As the fire was put out with foam, maybe there wasn't any access to water so more crews were required?
