A JUDGE told a Southampton man who kicked and repeatedly punched another man to the head: “Your trouble is that you lost your temper and went too far.”

Judge Andre Barnett heard John Harrison had been severely provoked by the victim Richard Ferguson who had been drinking and acting aggressively.

Prosecutor Daniel Sawyer told Southampton Crown Court independent witnesses had seen Mr Ferguson running at Harrison and his father. Harrison turned round and kicked him, causing him to fall over. He then sat astride him and repeatedly punched him. The victim suffered a lost tooth, damage to dental bridge work as well as facial cuts.

Harrison, 28, of Sycamore Road, Southampton, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm, which put him in breach of a three-month suspended sentence imposed for theft and burglary. He was jailed for six months.
