Seven Southampton chemists awarded quality mark

SOUTHAMPTON boasts seven pharmacies who are on a mission to boost the city’s health.

NHS Southampton City has awarded the Healthy Living Pharmacy quality mark to the seven stores in recognition of their dedication to improving the health and wellbeing of their local community.

Each pharmacy has a healthy living champion who keeps up-to-date with health services locally, to ensure customers are directed to the right service.

Dr Andrew Mortimore, director of public health for Southampton, said: “Healthy Living Pharmacies are a really helpful asset to people, as they can find a number of services including medicine use reviews and new medicine services.

“Some pharmacies also offer extra services such as stopping smoking, emergency hormonal contraception, palliative care, needle exchange or supervised consumption of drug use.”
