Neil 'Razor' Ruddock in the Celebrity Big Brother house alongside X Factor star Rylan Clark and Page 3 girl Lacey Banghard

FORMER Saints defender Neil Ruddock was among the well-known faces who entered the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight.

“Razor” Ruddock joined drug-ban horse racing champion Frankie Dettori, former Steps star Claire Richards and X Factor contestant Rylan Clark after weeks of speculation about the line-up.

The latest series of the Channel 5 show also features ex-EastEnders and Footballers Wives actress Gillian Taylforth, model Paula Hamilton, Neighbours star Ryan Maloney as well as former Coronation Street actor Sam Robertson and US reality TV couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

One-time Heartbeat actress Tricia Penrose and glamour model Lacey Banghard complete the line-up.

A notable absentee was comedian Jim Davidson who had been due to appear but was dropped after being arrested and questioned by detectives over allegations of sexual offences which he denies.

The 59-year-old, who has a home in Stockbridge, and a 53-year-old man arrested in Hampshire – believed to be from the Southampton area – were released on bail until March.

Clark was installed as favourite to win the show by bookmaker William Hill, with Dettori next.

The contestants will spend the next few days holed up in the custom-built property in full glare of TV cameras with a winner emerging later this month if they can prove popular enough with viewers and their own housemates.

The series is expected to last three weeks, with the first eviction due on Wednesday.

The series of Celebrity Big Brother is the fourth to be screened by Channel 5 in the space of 18 months, after resurrecting the show which had been dumped by Channel 4.

Ratings have been much reduced for the programme since it left Channel 4.

The most recent CBB series which finished in September and was won by Julian Clary drew an average of just 2.3m viewers, the lowest audience yet.

It is not the first time Ruddock, 44, has taken part in a reality television show. He took to the jungle in the third series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.

Ruddock, whose partner is former glamour model Leah Newman, joined Saints from Millwall for £200,000 in February 1989.

He made 138 appearances, scoring 13 goals, being he was sold to Tottenham Hotspur for £750,000 in May 1992.

A small headline in a national newspaper announced that CBB contestants were entering.... and I immediately thought it was something to do with children's TV.
On the same subject Jim Davidson was the only name I recognised in this particular group of non-celebs. I mean - would you know them if they sat next to you in the pub?

Think you'd know if you sat next to "Razor"!!

What has he actually done to receive your somewhat biased and unsupported rant

He won't be though will he? His career has already been dead for years. Bring it on I'd spit in the ugly f**kers eyes.

We will have to wait and see if he is charged for those offences, if he isn’t then I will see if you make good on your promise the next time he comes to Southampton to perform, personally, I don’t think you will

Nah, hopefully he'll be too busy getting molested on the nonce wing by a big gay black man.

I see that he is due to do a date at the Portsmouth Guildhall 3rd April, I am considering going only to see you repeat what you say on this forum when you are sat in the front row

Jim is certainly no angel and his indiscretions are well documented, however the man hasn’t been charged by the police, so until he is and then proven guilty he’s a free man.
I believe he lives in Stockbridge why don’t tell him what you commented on this forum.

So not only in your eyes is Jim guilty of whatever charges (if any) the police may bring, he is going to held in a prison which he will be separated from other prisoners because in your eyes he is guilty of an offence which the authorities will believe is so serious he needs to be kept away from the other prisoners, then whilst he is there he is going to be ‘molested’ by another man, who could be another prisoner , so then the prison authorities are negligent in their care of Jim, or he could be a member of staff then you are insinuating this staff will commit a very serious offence either way you are accusing the prison that Jim will be sent to of a serious breach of Care.
So this ‘man’ either staff or prisoner’ so happens to be homosexual but he happens to be black as well … using racist and homophobic comments in an anti Jim Davidson debate…. a bit of thought prior to making any more comments might be advisable this is a public forum.

Ironic punishment. And I guarantee you there are worse things than 'big gay black man' published on the Daily Echo website almost daily. Crying racism and homophobia while trying to defend Jim Davidson is pretty weak too isn't? I can sleep soundly at night in the knowledge that I'm not racist or homophobic, can you? Jim Davidson on the other hand is a self-confessed racist, homophobe, xenophobe to a level which goes well beyond any comedy act. Self-confessed wife-beater too, are you going to defend that as well?

well you 're that the one that mentioned gay and black. on your last point I had already alluded to his indecisions in an earlier post.
The only point I am defending regarding Jim is the one he was arrested for and as yet hasn't been charged, but you think differently you just assume the guy is guilty
