A MAN was left needing hospital treatment after he was attacked by three robbers who burst into his home.

The balaclava-wearing trio forced their way inside a house in West End Road, Bitterne, and stole a watch from the victim, in his 50’s, who suffered a head injury during the incident.

Detectives are investigating the aggravated burglary which happened around 5pm last night and are now appealing for information.

They say the robbers were all wearing dark clothing and made off on foot towards Wynter Road.

DS Matt Taylor said: “Thankfully the man was not seriously injured but he was left shaken by the attack.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in this area at around 5pm yesterday. We would also like to establish if any local residents saw any vehicles parked up in the area around the time which may have roused their suspicions.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Southampton CID on 101.

This is not the first time 3 men in balaclavas have struck. All the incidents must be connected.

Three recent incidents , all similar descriptions.
26th December, Ennerdale Road, Maybush.
1st January, Denzil Avenue, Bevois Valley.
4th January, West End Road, Bitterne.
Seems like a group of illiterate contract debt collectors are operating in the area.
There is a high chance that these reported incidents are where they knock on the wrong doors, but still take advantage of someone vulnerable, as it is well known that these thickos some times travel down from the smoke, and are therefore on unfamiliar territory trying to make their commission. It is only when they get it wrong the victims get the law involved, whereas they have many more successful hits where the other party involved is obviously very reluctant to complain.

Need more police on the beat. Stop chasing Innocent motorists all the time. Even the policeman in the picture is only a community officer.

The UK police rely to much on robbers making a mistake or someone ratting them out. I dont know if it is because the UK police are not very bright, after all, their lack of prosecutions in the Expenses thefts leaves them looking stupid and corrupt, or just a case of only going after the easy nicks. The UK police look ok in their uniforms, and when in numbers are daunting, but individually, they are not impressive.

Catching burglars and thief's doesn't bring in revenue where as motoring offences do. Police stations that are now closed are used for garages for their fleet of cars.
