Marine denies impersonating officer at a wedding
A Royal Marine corporal has pleaded not guilty to impersonating a superior officer by wearing a uniform and medals he was not entitled to at a wedding.
The court martial hearing at Portsmouth Naval Base heard that Corporal Robert Barnett, of 40 Commando Royal Marines, is accused of wearing the sergeant's dress uniform at the event on June 2 last year.
It's claimed the 32-year-old was reported to his superiors after he posted pictures of himself wearing the uniform on Facebook.
Barnett, who is based near Taunton, Somerset, denied the offence of conduct that is prejudicial to good order and service discipline by wearing a uniform that he was not entitled to.
Judge Advocate Alistair McGrigor said: ''The allegation is this defendant wore a dress uniform, presumably belonging to a colleague and had a number of medals he hadn't actually acquired in the proper way, at a wedding.''
The case was adjourned for a trial to take place on April 9.
