Airport prepared for snow Airport prepared for snow

Southampton Airport has activated its snow plan and is braced for snow overnight.

The airport has ploughed what it calls 'significant investment' in snow clearing equipment over the last two years, including the purchase of new snowploughs and has been planning and preparing since the summer.

Staff say they will be monitoring the weather closely in conjunction with the Met Office, and are are anticipating snow overnight, when the airport is closed, and into tomorrow morning.

Some disruption may occur tomorrow morning. Passengers are advised to check in as normal, but to allow extra time to make their way to the airport.

Does this mean that it will simply close?

seems a little pathetic that the airports "plan" was just to simply close - Britain needs to have a "can do" attitude rather than just hang a closed sign on nearly everything.
