• "Southampton City Council should hang their heads in shame! How many warnings from every weather report you could access do you need in order to send out your gritting lorries during the night? I left home in London Road to travel the relatively short distance to The General Hospital for a long awaited pre-op assessment for an even longer awaited urgent major knee operation. After over an hour I was still on the Avenue (the main road in and out of Southampton orom the M3) and I was forced to turn back. I witnessed a single decker bus brake for a bus stop and then slide vitually sideways past the stop - frightening. I hear constant reports that this is the same situation all over our city. It is obvious that the Council are in dereliction of their duty to the people of Southampton and its visitors. It is nothing short of a disgrace and I have yet to hear an explaination or an apology! Shame on you!!"
