The grit is under the snow...

The only way to keep the roads free of snow is to put a roof over them.

The snow will last for a day, or just a few days, but the cost of having enough snow ploughs, which would be needed even on years when there is no snow, would be massive - the moaners I'm sure would not want such an increase in Council Tax to pay for such exuberance.
    No.

There was no grit on the roads around Shirley this morning whatsoever. Not under the snow, not above the snow, not anywhere near the snow at all. None.
And I hope no one had a heart attack or an acute respiratory episode round here this morning, because with the roads as they were the ambulance response times must have been shocking (through no fault of SCAS).

The council have a duty to ensure the transport network is adequate for emergency response at the least. If they're negligent in that, then potentially they have blood on their hands."
