I was interested in doing this in Swaythling, but lost interest when I discovered that we would be unable to select the dangerous road where only a few idiot drivers speed but would be expected to cover the roads that are used by more cars, usually quite safely even at speed.

On paper it sounds a good scheme but in reality its a police roll and should stay there putting policing matters into private hands is not the way forward we spoke about it at one of our meetings as well and as soon as the suggestion was made that the police would be selecting the roads covered support dwindled. You already have a police force a set of PCSOs, Highways Authority, safe cameras, why more to do the job already paidfor unless the Policing Authority is giving a discount as the force is now covered by Volunteers.

Free Policing again with the Village Snoopers. What power do they have to conduct speed enforcement? I'd like to see the evidence stand up in court.. Its neighbourhood watch for speeders. The police are abdicating their responsibility for enforcing the speed limit. If you do get a letter from the Police ignore it its not worth the paper its written on, a bit like the clampers.

It's not called snooping, it's called caring. If I can stop just one kid in my area from being mown down and killed or seriously injured I will be happy. However as we who know the danger spots are not allowed fo dictate where to do the speed checks it will not be happening.
