Ambulance crashes on emergency call Ambulance crashes on emergency call

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an ambulance responding to an emergency call was in collision with a car in the New Forest.

The incident happened between Everton Road and Old Christchurch Road, in Everton, at about 4.50pm yesterday.

A 20-year-old driver of a Citroen Saxo was taken to hospital with pelvis and leg injuries although the ambulance crew were unharmed. There were no patients on board at the time.

Police investigating the incident are keen to trace the drivers of two dark coloured saloons and a white van which were nearby shortly before the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hampshire Constabulary Roads Police Unit on 101 quoting Operation Baritone.

It's not possible to say before the facts are known exactly who was at fault. I myself was driving at about that time and had no problem as unlike a responding emergency vehicle I was able to proceed at a low speed.

I have heard that a CAR was over taking & hit the ambulance. What idiot would overtake on ICE ROAD conditions?

I have worked with paramedics & believe me they would nevre take risks. It looks like the car driver (member of public) is at fault).
Hope everyone is ok including whoever the paramedics were going to at the time of the crash.

The stretch of road is almost notorious for accidents and is a succession of bends that catch people out on a bright summers day. If I had to place money on either the Ambulance driver or the 20 year old in a Saxo, I'd weigh up the relative experience and bet accordingly.

Yes I do own a mobility scooter which is for the use of those living in my flats with mobility problems. I was driving my Peugeot estate.
