RESIDENTS in Alresford are poised to go to the polls in May to fill two vacancies on the town council.
Councillors discussed the possibility of co-opting people on to the council or holding an election if more than ten people called for one.
Cllr Natalie Carpenter briefly left the meeting to talk to people drinking in the next-door bar at Alresford Recreation Centre.
She returned after a few minutes to say: “You will be having an election.
“There were more than ten people (in the bar) and they all called for it.”
The vacancies were caused by the resignation of Paul Waterworth because of work commitments and Steve Middleton who has moved to Hayling Island.

Very few people give a toss about what the mostly elderly, reactionary Tories and bearded, sandle-wearing LibDems say or do on local parish and town councils. The real power is at district and county level.
