Police in Southampton shut down house used as drugs den
9:03am Saturday 26th January 2013 in News
By Sian Davies, Senior News Reporter
POLICE have shut down a Southampton home being used as a crack den by drug addicts and dealers.
It brings to an end months of misery for neighbours who have had to put up with users urinating on their property, throwing stones at windows and banging on doors as they queued to get their fix.
Today the property is boarded up after shocking evidence from residents persuaded magistrates to let officers take action.
A mother and her son living there, Christine and Christopher Lord, were given a few hours to remove their belongings before they were evicted.

These things simply cannot happen in a matter of days or a few weeks, the Police can only ever work as quickly as the system allows. Perhaps if the public were more supporting of their work you would find the Police could be a lot more effective on a number of issues!
As house used as a drugs den and it took months for the police to act, and they are standing there proud as punch with a sign. WTF

Does this mean that they will just get put in another council property?

Get a warrant, bang in you go and all the evidence you need. a few days surveillance and photos, not months.

Dusty wrote:The people who lived there weren't the ones dealing drugs though. The property was being cuckooed by the dealers. The property was raided last year and they only found a small quantity of crack. If the dealers are coming and going it makes it very hard for the police. I don't think the couple have been charged with any offence. The police were just working with the council to bring grounds for an eviction.

Where does a warrant come from? A magistrate.
What do magistrates need to issue one? Evidence.
How long does evidence take to get? It varies.
Still, far better to moan like an idiot isn't it?

If they were queuing to get their fix, what months of surveillance is needed?
Warrants can be given in minutes, not months and in some cities, magistrates work night shifts for that reason. So don't go blabbing of carp you know nothing about and then tell others they know nothing and are idiots. There is irony in your post.

And the thing is, I do know about it. Quite a lot as it happens.
And I think you need to check your understanding of the word 'irony'. You're thinking of hypocrisy.
Surely people should just be happy that something has been done but oh no, moan about the police - again.

I doubt you know any more than the rest of us.
You are just more opinionated and loud.
You have all the benefit of hindsight, and try to use that to pull the old "I'm in the know" trick
