THE Daily Echo hosted its glittering Curtain Call awards at Southampton’s Grand Harbour Hotel last night.

Dubbed the ‘Oscars of the South’, the annual event recognises the very best in amateur theatre.

Star of Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine, Josephine Tewson was the special guest at the night, hosted by Daily Echo editor Ian Murray and entertainments editor Lorelei Reddin.

CCADS scooped the top prize of production of the year for their version of Aida, which the judges described as sensitively played by a multi-talented cast.

More than 400 guests at the sold-out event enjoyed a three-course dinner and danced the night away.
