TWO Catholic churches in the Romsey area raised £1,186 at a festive raffle and from selling parish diaries.

They handed the cash over to the town’s Fryers House, a care centre for adults with physical disabilities.

Deacon John Di Meo handed a cheque to Suze Harknett, one of the service users at the Leonard Cheshire Disability Home, off Botley Road.

St Andrew’s Church in North Baddesley and St Joseph’s raised the money.

Kate Brown, volunteer coordinator and activities organiser at Fryers House, said: “Charity donations are hugely appreciated by us and this donation will make a big difference to the service and enhance the quality of life for users.”

The cash will be used to buy new furniture and equipment for Fryers House’s newly built lounge-kitchenette and a new conservatory that is being built.
