Shoppers evacuated from fire at WestQuay shopping centre (From Daily Echo)

Must have been the Union members rushing on buying burgers after a busy day blowing whistles to fill their bellies, the grills simply couldn't cope.

Good to hear, for once, that the fire crews didn't have to cut anyone out.

We can argue about the size of the state and what services to provide but to sneer at people for the job they do is beyond the pail.

Both of my bins are still outside, full to overflowing. They were supposed to be collected last Monday.
I know it snowed, everyone was affected the Friday before last. However, in the main, we are all pretty much back up to full speed, and have been since last Monday.
All of us, it seems, except the refuse collecting department of SCC.
Are they making some kind of political point?? Or merely intent in reinforcing the belief that the majority of this hard-working, socially responsible and thoroughly decent taskforce are, unfortunately, led by a group of lazy, work shy, fascist bully-boys, Who will advise their members not to work at the merest hint of inclement weather. And thereby intend to make the majority of the electorate suffer to fulfil their own self-centred, egocentric needs.?

then you are just as much to blame, there things called phones, and ask the council would of sent a some one around to collette it and empty your bins.

It's amazing how a little fire at West Quay has led to such stupid comments from the regular idiots

I would be more interested in how well the evacuation went, than a lot of dross about a protest which has no relevance to the story. How soon was the complex returned to normal?

I've got a question for West Quay management... Why do the car park exit barriers not get automatically raised when the centre is in a full evacuation? There was a sense of panic as people were queuing to validate their tickets before they could leave. I have probably answered my own question... It's all about the money!

The theory being that you would evacuate the building completely, not got to a fuel laden bomb that would go up in smoke if the fire spread quickly to the Car Park, not very bright some people.
