Naked rambler fights outraging public decency charge
2:10pm Monday 28th January 2013 in News
COURT HEARING: Stephen Gough
HAMPSHIRE’S Naked Rambler will have to wait until tomorrow to see if indecency charges made against him will be dropped.
Appearing at Oxford Crown Court, wearing only his boots, Stephen Gough, pictured, hoped to have the charges of outraging public decency thrown out.
He was back behind bars on December 4 after walking naked from the Scottish border to get to his mother’s home in Eastleigh. He got as far as Oxfordshire before he was arrested.
The 53-year-old, of Chamberlayne Road, Eastleigh, spent Christmas in custody and will remain locked up until tomorrow when his defence team will again contest the charges.

This man is clearly mental. Lock him up in a secure unit. Haven't we all heard enough about him. I feel sorry for his family having to put up with his c.rap every 5 minutes. How does he live and on what?

Maybe he should get sectioned, he might then realise its time to behave decently and abide by the law!!

The funniest thing about this is the way that the "system" hasn't got a clue what to do. The ultimate deterrent, prison, clearly doesn't work, he immediately strips as soon as he's out and walks naked again! He just likes it that way. Best of luck to you ol' chum.
.
Not so long ago he'd have been celebrated as an eccentric, a long list on which Brits have an illustrious presence. It's a HUMAN BODY for gods sake, we've all got 'em. Leave him be.

It isn't normal behaviour or we'd all be encouraging one another to walk around naked.

I have no problem with him being naked so long as he does it in his own home or behind closed doors.

But he won't do that because that makes sense, it's simple and he won't get in the papers.
Maybe it would help if the DE stopped reporting on him.

What is not acceptable is his conduct which must change. Walking around nude in your back garden is fine by me, walking around nude in populated areas is not. I still think he needs help and sectioning him will ensure he gets it.
It has been reported on here before that a mental assessment has been done and there is nothing wrong with him. I think this man just likes seeking attention by continually doing something which he knows offends people and is illegal. He deserves everything he gets and it irritates me when people either feel sorry for him or try to make excuses for him.
Maybe he should get sectioned, he might then realise its time to behave decently and abide by the law!!

Etiquette and what ever aside. Why can't innocent people be left alone. He's had several mental health assessments and all tests are ok. So what's the big deal?
Too often people interfere with the lives of others, too easily people are offended. Please just stop the madness and the nasty comments.
It's bullying and immature.
Try and understand even briefly what freedom and naturism are about!

What I don't understand is why people are so easily offended and embarrassed by a naked human being.

To anyone who thinks that his behaviour is acceptable just go to work tomorrow, take off all your clothes and see how many people you offend.
It may not be offensive to you but it is to most people. That is why there is a law to stop people doing it in public.
