Sheriff Payne: "I feel in his drunken state Jason was attempting to follow a route back home and at some point he has come into contact with the live rail."

Various witness statements are being read out. A jumper was found in the garden of 14 Albert Road.

A statement from resident Paul Wayman was read out.  He states a policeman followed Jason in climbing over the fence and jumped back over afterwards.

Dr Katie Boyd's post mortem found no drugs were detected but his blood showed he was more than twice the legal limit for driving.

PC Mark Stook from British Transport Police told the inquest he arrived just after midnight after being told Jason had been electrocuted on the tracks.

In a statement read by the coroner PC Matthew Saunders said he saw a plume of smoke 100 metres from Bailey Bridge and suspected the male was dead, seeing his back was "badly burned".

"I saw a body lying on the track with his back against the live rail," PC Perks had stated.

"I heard on the police radio that a man had touched the live rail and was a code 200," he said.

He told how he arrived with PC Silvey and they went to Arthur Road and to a car park. He said he saw PC Silvey stood on a wooden fence panel.

Sheriff Payne said a resident claimed a policeman went to climb the fence and PC Silvey denied he tried to do this.

"I saw a figure on the tracks," PC Silvey said.

But Jason was climbing ov the fence and made it to the other side so the policeman ran to the bridge which crosses the tracks.

He found Jason in a garden and shouted "stop, police".

She had reported him missing and went to Christchurch station, where she saw Jason's phone and rang it to confirm it was his.

She said she had been told about Jason going on the tracks and Ashley Satchelle had managed to get him to come off the tracks and told him they were live.

Jessica Down was a friend of Jason. They worked together at The Grasshopper in Poole and he had lived above.

One of the girls had grown hysterical and said her sister had died on railway tracks, the inquest heard.

Mr Holbrooke had stopped him going on the tracks and was threatened before a teenage girl called the police.

Thomas Holbrook told the inquest he was at the station on September 17 and saw Jason cross the tracks.

Mr Satchelle said Jason hugged him and told him he loved him when he left Mr Satchelle's home on September 17. Mr Satchelle later went out and saw police at the station and found out it was Jason who had died on the tracks.

Mr Satchelle said Jason had threatened to kill himself at the railway bridge near the station and blamed himself for problems in his life while drunk.

Sheriff Payne said he was picked up by police for being drunk and disorderly, and  Mr Satchelle confirmed this.

Friend Ashley Satchelle confirmed Jason was stressed about money problems and was drinking more to deal with that.

Jason's mum Linda said she spoke to her son on 17 September before he died.

Sheriff Payne opened the inquest stating Jason appears to have climbed  over a fence close to Christchurch station before he died.

Jason died in Christchurch aged 24 last September. East Dorset Coroner Sheriff Payne is expected to hear from a number of police and medical experts today before recording his verdict.

Jason had just become a dad when he died. His family has taken all the messages from friends and put them in a special memory box for six-month old Triyden so that he grows up knowing who his dad was and how well loved he was.
